Eastern Mennonite outscored Juniata for the match, but it wasn?t enough as the Eagles came from behind to steal a five-setter and claim the CVC Championship Saturday night in Arlington, Va. The Royals had a 2-1 lead in sets before JC earned the fifth, where Eastern Mennonite led 14-11 and had six chances at match point before the Eagles flipped in front in a 22-20 final.
EMU?s volleyball men got defensive and it worked. The Royals racked up 20 blocks, including 16 over the final three sets, as they shocked top-seeded Marymount University in a 3-2 come-from-behind win in the CVC Tournament semifinals.
Despite a CVC loss at Stevenson on Saturday, EMU?s volleyball men finished the regular season on a winning note as they head into their first-ever CVC Tournament. The Royals took a 3-1 win over Penn State-Altoona to wrap up Saturday?s tri-match in Owings Mills, Md., pushing their record to 21-10.
With a 3-0 sweep at Cairn Friday night, EMU?s volleyball men clinched their first-ever spot in the Continental Volleyball Conference Tournament. The top four teams make the postseason tournament, which will be April 14 and 15 at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
