CVC On the Road: Eastern Mennonite

Each week this season we will follow one Continental Volleyball Conference team as they head out on the road. This week's story is with Dan Lutz who took us with him as Eastern Mennonite University hit the road for a pair of CVC matches.

Eastern Mennonite is currently 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play after the opening weekend of CVC matches. They are coming off an appearance in the 2017 CVC Championship match and have been receiving votes in the AVCA Top 15 poll this year. The following words are provided by Dan Lutz during their weekend road trip.

"We left campus at 8 on Friday morning. We had about a five-hour drive so we ate breakfast and lunch on the bus (bagels and sandwiches). On our ride to Thiel, we popped in the movie 'The Incredibles', which is a classic that everyone loves. After that, the guys either took a nap or continued to watch shows on Netflix."

"The Thiel game went great. They are a solid young team but we came in playing our game and we were very consistent and clean. After the match, we headed off to eat dinner at Chipotle and then got back on the bus to drive over to Juniata."

"We got to sleep in a bit and had breakfast and lunch at the hotel before our rematch against Juniata. Saturday's match didn't go quite as well as the night before as things seemed completely opposite. Juniata was the team that was consistent on offense and defense and we did not play to our regular level of game. We were disappointed in our performance but we will see them again soon with a better mindset and a more consistent game."

"After the match, we stopped by Wendy's for dinner, you know we have to get that 4 for $4 deal. On our way home it was more of the same with movies. We watched 'Surfs Up', which was funny and had that old school nostalgia feel. Again after the movie we either took naps or watched Netflix. We arrived back to campus around 10:30 p.m. Honestly this weekend we were all pretty tired so we didn't have a repeat performance of our karaoke contest on the way home."
