The #4 ranked Carthage men's volleyball team faced went 2-1 in a
three match trip to California this past weekend, picking up a

AROUND THE CVC
Cairn dropped their fifth consecutive
match as they fell 3-0 to #15 ranked Stevenson last week. Cairn hit
just .150 in the match as Josiah Buss, Ryan Garven and Randall
Colson all tied for the team lead with seven kills. Jon Wilson
finished with 25 assists while Matthew Rhodes added 10 digs. |
Carthage traveled to California last week, where
they saw their 11 match winning streak snapped in a loss to #6 UC
Santa Cruz. The Red Men responded with a win over Holy Names the
next day and got revenge against UC Santa Cruz with a 3-0 sweep on
Tuesday. The Red Men come back home this weekend to face Dominican
University in a CVC contest. |
Dominican dropped their only
match of the week, a 3-2 loss to #12 ranked Lakeland. The Stars
fell 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 18-25 and 15-12 in the battle of CVC
newcomers. Dominican was led by Jeremy Royko's 14 kills while
Zachery Sinn added 10 kills. Alex Coyne finished recorded 46
assists on his team's 55 kills, along with 17 digs. |
Eastern Mennonite had their CVC
playoff hopes dashed in a 3-0 loss to Thiel College last weekend.
The loss dropped the Royals to 1-6 in the CVC East. Eastern
Mennonite hit just .067 as a team with Quentin Moore leading the
way with 17 kills. |
The Griffins will be looking
to snap their two match losing streak as they head out on the road
for a pair of CVC contests this weekend. Fontbonne faces #12 ranked
Lakeland on Saturday and will then head over to play MSOE on
Sunday. |
As the regular season is
winding down the Eagles will be focusing on repeating as CVC
Tournament champions. They have won five straight matches,
including defeating Eastern Mennonite and Marymount last week. They
will face Thiel, Hilbert and Penn State-Altoona this weekend. |
Lakeland carries a five match winning streak into this week's
action, in which they will host three opponents. The Muskies play
host to St. Xavier on Wednesday and then return to action with CVC
matches against Fontbonne on Saturday and Mount St. Joseph on
Sunday. |
After a short home stand last week Marymount heads out
on the road for their next three matches. They will take on CVC
East foes Cairn and #15 Stevenson this weekend as they will look to
snap a two match losing streak. Marymount, in their first year of
the program, are currently 7-15 overall and 2-5 in the CVC
East. |
MSOE closes out their regular season with four
consecutive home matches including a pair of CVC matches this
weekend. The Raiders will host Mount St. Joseph on Saturday and
Fontbonne on Sunday. MSOE will be looking to avenge 3-1 losses to
both teams earlier this season. |
Mount St. Joseph had a successful weekend,
taking all three matches of a three match series on Sunday. They
topped Rust 3-0 in a pair of matches and added a 3-2 win over
Fontbonne. The Lions' are now 15-8 on the season and are guaranteed
of a winning season. |
The #15 ranked Mustangs
went 3-1 in the Kean Invitational last week including a win over #9
Elmira, their second win over a nationally-ranked team this season.

Mennonite and Marymount this weekend. |

scores. The Tomcats are now 12-13 on the season and will face top
