Marymount men's volleyball made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at Blake Arena, but fell to SUNY-New Paltz, 3-1.
NOTABLE
- Jason Perkins led all players with six blocks on the night.
- Ervin Harrell tied for the team lead with nine kills and hit .300.
- Marymount finished the season with a school record 23 wins, surpassing the previous high of 22 set in head coach Dan Liberto's first season at the helm (2018).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After battling to a 10-10 tie early in the first set, SUNY-New Paltz pulled away down the stretch to win 25-20.
- The two sides battled once again in the second set with a Raymond Tarasi kill bringing Marymount within a point at 19-18. But four straight errors from the Saints allowed the Hawks to take control and win the set, 25-21.
- Marymount put together its best performance in the third set, hitting .400 to win 25-20. The Saints scored seven of the last nine points to extend the match.
- MU took its final lead of the night 9-8 in the fourth set, but the strong hitting of SUNY-New Paltz allowed the Hawks to close out the match, 25-18. SUNY-New Paltz hit .444 in the final set.

- SUNY-New Paltz advances to the NCAA quarterfinals to take on host Springfield tomorrow night at 6 PM.
- The Pride beat Penn State-Behrend convincingly in the other first-round matchup (25-19, 25-8, 25-9).
